Writing Art - A Writing Map for Art Galleries

All of life is there in a good art gallery. Paintings and photographs make worlds available to us – landscapes, people and objects that might take us time and money to come by. Paintings teach us to be specific and precise, to avoid generalisations. The writing exercises on the writing art writing map will inspire you to create new stories, and also suggest ways of using what you write in the art gallery to enrich the stories you're working on, as well as ways of expanding your initial "sketches" in the gallery. Although devised to be used in art galleries, these exercises will work just as well if you're working with postcards, art books, or images online, in a library, a classroom, or at home.

The Writing Map is illustrated by Mstr Gringo, with writing prompts by Shaun Levin.
