Marbled Endpaper Pendant 'Nonpareil'

A wonderful silver-plated pendant containing hand-marbled endpaper from a damaged 19th-century book. The Asian art of marbling paper reached Europe in the 17th century, and soon began to be used for the endpapers of books. "Nonpareil" means "Matchless", and the technique involves combing the ink in different directions with a fine comb.
